The Structure

This is a 12-week interdisciplinary project where you will learn about open payment systems, work in teams to design financial inclusion solutions, and present your work to industry experts. Here is exactly what happens and when.

You will earn 5 extracurricular ECTS. Assessment is based on the capstone project and final pitch.

Time Commitment:

roughly 140 hours (standard for 5 ECTS)

The Two Core Components

You will focus on two core components thoughout the lab:

Learning Sessions (Week 1-8)

Interactive workshops where you build foundational knowledge and meet industry experts.

Capstone Project (Week 7-12)

Team-designed financial inclusion solution using open payments, including regulatory analysis.

Timeline:

Open Payments Innovation Lab Pilot runs in Semester 2 of 2025/2026 academic year for 12 consecutive weeks starting from March 20 to June 12, 2026.

  • March 20 –  Kicking off weekly sessions (8 sessions in total)

  • May till June 10 - Capstone development + coaching sessions

  • June 11, 2026 - Final Pitch Event

Capstone Project

Presented: Week 12

Work in interdisciplinary teams to design a financial inclusion solution using open payments and ILP.

Solution Design:

What problem are you solving? How does your solution work? Who uses it and how?

Financial Model:

How does the business work? What are the economics? Is it sustainable and competitive?

Technical Architecture:

How does ILP enable your solution? What is the user journey?

Impact Assessment:

Who benefits and how? What is the real-world financial inclusion impact?

Legal Analysis:

What regulations apply across different jurisdictions? How do you ensure compliance? What are the legal challenges and how do you address them?

Pitch Deck:

Present your integrated solution to industry experts
